"jealous of the moon" ~ nickel creek. |

if you've never heard of the paste magazine, get on that immediately. it's this really wonderful magazine that introduces you to amazing new artists and each issue comes with a CD full of atleast 20 songs for you to hear them out. paste magazine introduced me to aqualung before the album came out so you know that there's quality music being introduced.
this issue is filled with musical love. almost every song is my favorite. they have a new song by death cab for cutie. john vanderslice is really good. the orange peels = fun. oh, it's all so good. i could go on and name every artist, but instead of doing that, i'm just going to focus on one.
nickel creek. why were they never really popular? because it's kind of bluegrass? jesus christ, i think they're phenomenal. but then again, i've always had a crush on chris thile, the mandolin player in the group.
he is not only beautiful, but he's entirely too talented. born a child prodigy, it shows in all of his music. he put out a solo album in 2004. i was in borders doing my normal find-a-new-artist browse in the cd section and i came across his cd "deceiver". the cover had a picture of him overlooking a skyline in black and white. the writing was in a messy font. the sixth track was "i'm nowhere and you're everything". that was pretty much what sold me. i got out of borders, unwrapped it, and put it directly into my cd player in the car. "the wrong idea" came on first. if you want to download this song, go ahead. god, it's like a puzzle musically. truly, it's fantastic as is the whole cd. so since then, i've kind of been secretly married to this man.
so when i saw that there was a nickel creek song on this paste cd, i got very, very excited. that must mean that a new cd is coming out soon, which it is, august 9th. and i must say that the song is very, very good. i immediately went on itunes and got their most recent ep. i wish they were a bit more known or appreciated because they are really, really good.
and he's just too friggen loveable.
